i'm keeping this brief as i'm tired, having spent all day on this. i haven't updated this blog for a while so my progress represents a good few days' drawing work....
my next commission is of some red river hogs - a lovely little family of mum and dad and three hoglets. the composition is from two photographs 'patched' together. here is my progress to date.
i got my head down on this one and didn't stop to update the blog. but i have taken some pictures of the work in progress which you can see here. this is the second of a set of two portraits of cohabiting golden retrievers, "harry". he is the elder, more serious dog of the household and i rather love his grouchy expression! this drawing has presented me with lots of difficulties, as the reference image was particularly blurry and there was some details i couldn't discern at all, such as the eyes and nose. but i'm pretty pleased with the outcome and, most importantly, so is my client!
i'm an artist first, office clerical assistant second (yeah that's what they all say!). i was born to draw and i like furry animals so that's what i draw. mostly. i like to think outside the box and i believe you are as old as you feel (until the arthritis sets in). i believe in questioning the status quo because we too readily accept our situations without batting eyelids. i love learning and know i will never stop. i like talking with artists as many of them share my view!
