spaniel drawing completed

well, there was a bit of a break on this one, since i came down with that ubiquitous flu that seems to be knocking people down like skittles. and the skittles have to spend the next few days tucked into a duvet downing flu remedies and clementines like they're going out of fashion! i took longer than expected to shake off its effects - and did so just in time for christmas - one cannot be ill for christmas, because it would ruin it for everybody! as it happens everybody else had flu at christmas, particularly the main engineer of the family event: mum. so bruised and tired from the preceeding week's illness i managed to do my best to help out with the christmas meal, and so did any remaining family members that had not succumbed. despite everything, mum put on a brave face and dad's phlegmy coughs i tried to find more amusing than disgusting (trick of the mind) and i think a good christmas was had by (nearly) all!
now the drawing: i completed the rest of it in two stages, but didn't scan the first part. i feel satisfied that she is complete, so have added a signature!

here's to a great new year to anyone that reads this: i have a good feeling that this is going to my most creative year yet!

legs eleven...well, two

so because my day at the office was so frustrating today, i have felt obliged to work extra hard on getting some done this evening to counterbalance my feelings! i'm working by blocking out the 'shadows' first, then will graduate into the lighter areas....

spaniel's ears!

after another 2 hours, i've added the other ear and deepened the toning on the muzzle and lifted out the white highlights around it.

spaniel update

this update is following another five hours' work.

Cocker Spaniel

molly, a cocker spaniel
look at this cutie! she's perfected the "i'm sad, come and love me" eyes, i think! this drawing is on a4, so when finished she'll be 10" long from outstretched paw to tail tip. what you see here is about 2" across.

Red River Hogs portrait finished

i've loved doing this drawing, as it's been a departure from dogs and cats, and something i wouldn't normally have chosen to draw: but i'm enchanted with them now! i love the peacefully sleeping family - you can almost see the smiles on their faces, like sleeping cats!
